Earth-Soul Connection.
Walk tall, think onward, pay it forward.
Earth-Soul Connection offers Equine Assisted Psychotherapy (EAP) to individuals, families or groups of people. EAP is effective for self development and treating a variety of mental health conditions such as anxiety, depression, post traumatic stress disorder and addictions. It can be helpful to people experiencing bereavement.
Equine Assisted Psychotherapy incorporates ‘horse-as-therapist’ in partnership with a licensed psychotherapist and a horse professional, guiding the participant through experiential activities with the horse. Participants then discuss their thoughts, beliefs, behaviors and behavior patterns and possible options for change and implementation thereof back in daily life in the presence of the horse.
EAP does not involve any horse riding or require horsemanship skills. All activities are done with the participant on foot.
EAP promotes change through physical action, it is not just talk. Feedback from the horse is immediate and in-the-moment allowing the participant to experiment with ways to be mindful in a non-judgmental environment and acquire embodiment of new ways of being.
Horses are powerful, majestic creatures, and may instill fear or awe in people, yet can be affectionate and bonded with humans and are highly sociable. Horses are hard-wired to be social, instinctively their survival is dependent on their ability to communicate within the herd and maintain effective relationships with their herd-mates so that they do not fall prey to a predator. Horses “wear their heart on their sleeve” so to speak and mirror the inner emotional world of humans, in their presence. This mirroring is a silent way of communicating, through specific behaviors and body language, to other living beings in their presence and to inform themselves of the intentions of the humans. Horses show their emotions openly and honestly, horses do not lie, they do not judge. Horses are congruent.
